About Me

I am a graduate from The College of New Jersey with a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education and Psychology, anticipating a C.E.A.S. for Grades K-6. I have obtained experience working with a diverse group of young students throughout my time as an educator. I volunteered at Habitat for Humanity's Learning Lab where I tutored elementary-aged children from predominantly non- English speaking homes in Trenton. I was responsible for helping them complete their homework because if it were not completed in the lab, it would be difficult for their parents to assist them at home due to language barriers. I also participated in urban and suburban practicum experiences where I observed and taught lessons across multiple subject areas.

I have over five years of experience working with elementary-aged children as a camp counselor at my hometown's summer recreation camp. As a result of camp counseling, I had the opportunity to organize and lead activities for students, keep them active and engaged in these activities, and build trusting relationships with both the children and their parents by addressing any concerns. I was able to expand on this experience as a summer camp teacher at a daycare, Cradles 2 Crayons, where I had similar responsibilities to my previous job, but in a classroom setting. Most recently, I substitute taught in my home district's public schools. Throughout this experience, I was able to gain a sense of classroom management and leadership skills.

It is my hope that this portfolio will help give you an idea of my ability to be a successful and commendable educator. I have absolutely loved the initial steps of my journey as a teacher and I am excited to begin my career in the field of education.

"The principle goal of education in the schools should be creating men and women who are capable of doing new things, not simply repeating what other generations have done."
